For two filling lines we ordered automatic checkweighers with a scraper to eliminate both “sub-scrapers” and “over-scrapers”. The tolerance level is of course adjustable and each of the scales can weigh a minimum of 5000 cans per hour. To give you an idea, that’s 0.72 seconds to weigh each can, with absolute precision. Until now, we have only carried out check weighing at the time of packing. That was increasing our scrap rate. We will now be able to “correct” any incorrectly filled cans before sealing and sterilization and return them for check weighing.
